Get a Library Card

A library card is free to residents of Rhode Island and students who reside in Rhode Island. The Greenville Public Library is a member of Ocean State Libraries Consortium. A library card from the Greenville Public Library entitles you to borrowing privileges at all RI public libraries. Books borrowed at any RI public library may be returned at any other public library in the state. (Local policies may vary.)

Rhode Island Residents

To obtain a free library card, please visit the Circulation Desk inside the library. You will need to fill out an application, provide positive identification and proof of your current Rhode Island address. For children under the age of 18 years old, a signature of the parent or guardian is required.

Non-Rhode Island Residents


Non-residents who pay property taxes in Rhode Island may obtain an OSL library card at no charge with proof of property taxes paid. All other non-residents may obtain a statewide OSL library card for an annual fee of $171. A local-use only card, allowing access to only Greenville Public Library materials, may be obtained for a yearly fee of $40.00.
